Livestock Worker (Health and Movements)

About the role

Mort & Co has openings for Livestock Workers in its Livestock Health and Movements team at the Grassdale Feedlot. The role covers cattle health, movement and treatment work on the feedlot.

Key responsibilities

• Pen riding and walking, livestock movements, drafting, induction, processing and hospital treatments
• Assess sick and injured cattle by pen observation and administer animal treatments
• Report and keep accurate records using specialist feedlot systems
• Monitor cattle health, wellbeing and performance each day in line with company protocols
• Carry out all livestock operations safely, in line with workplace health and safety, compliance and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• Interest in working with livestock and a career in livestock operations
• Experience working with livestock in a feedlot environment
• Ability to apply low-stress cattle handling principles
• Effective verbal communication and teamwork
• Experience with horses is desirable but not essential; providing two horses for personal use is beneficial but not mandatory, and horse care support is offered
