Linux Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a Linux Administrator to join Harvey Norman’s IT team in Australia. Reporting to the Midrange & Storage Services Manager, you will manage SAN storage, oversee backup and restore operations, and administer the company’s monitoring platform while supporting a wide range of managed services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, monitor and optimise Linux infrastructure across physical, virtual and application environments.
• Plan, deploy and maintain RHEL and SLES servers, including provisioning, patching, hardware refreshes and software lifecycle management.
• Implement and maintain high‑availability solutions, backup, disaster‑recovery and system‑resilience practices.
• Automate and standardise processes using scripting and configuration‑management tools such as Ansible.
• Collaborate with vendors, service providers and internal development and operations teams to troubleshoot and continuously improve system performance.
• Enforce information‑security, compliance and governance standards, including incident monitoring and after‑hours maintenance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in complex IT environments with strong communication and documentation skills.
• Highly organised, collaborative and able to manage competing priorities independently or within a team.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities, especially in system performance monitoring and optimisation.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with RHEL and SLES on physical and virtual platforms.
• Knowledge of Linux lifecycle tools such as Red Hat Satellite, SUSE Manager and Foreman/Katello.
• Automation and configuration‑management expertise, particularly Ansible.
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix networking and TCP/IP.
• Experience with VMware virtualization and Linux VM administration.
• Scripting proficiency in Bash, KornShell (ksh), Perl and Python.
