Legal Counsel – Property, Leasing & Procurement

About the role

The Department of Parliamentary Services is seeking a qualified lawyer to provide professional legal advice across a range of parliamentary functions. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will support the department with risk‑based guidance on property, leasing, contracts, procurement, statutory interpretation and privacy matters.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clear, practical legal advice on property, leasing, contracts and procurement issues.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial leases, contracts and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to respond promptly to a high volume of requests.
• Interpret legislation and privacy regulations to ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Practising lawyer with strong analytical capability and sound judgement.
• Experience advising on property, leasing, contracts or procurement matters.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
