Legal Counsel – ANZ (Melbourne)

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑savvy Legal Counsel to join our Melbourne team and support our food and agribusiness operations across Australia and New Zealand. You will work closely with business units, global legal partners and external counsel to manage risk and drive commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including services, sales, distribution, supply, procurement, logistics and confidentiality contracts.
• Provide legal advice across corporate law, agri‑business, ESG, real estate, environmental, health & safety, litigation and data privacy matters.
• Promote and embed Global Legal Team policies and priorities through interaction with executives and key stakeholders.
• Participate in cross‑functional projects within the legal department and ANZ businesses.
• Assist in developing policies and practices that meet global and regional legal requirements.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, delivering training and updates to internal teams.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Admission as a lawyer with a current Victorian practising certificate (or ability to obtain one).
• 4–7 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial law, gained in‑house or at a reputable law firm.
• Strong generalist skill set with proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
