Experienced Lawyer – Financial Services Regulation

About the role

An experienced lawyer is needed to join a growing Financial Services Regulatory practice in Melbourne. The role sits within a broader corporate and commercial offering and involves advising clients across the financial services sector on complex regulatory, compliance and advisory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise financial services businesses on regulatory and compliance obligations, including Australian Financial Services licensing requirements.
• Work on matters involving superannuation, retirement products, insurance, fund management and investment businesses.
• Assist clients in navigating changes to financial services legislation, providing advice on governance, compliance frameworks and regulatory risk.
• Review and advise on financial services documentation, policies and processes, and support regulatory engagement.
• Manage matters independently while collaborating with senior practitioners on complex work and building trusted client relationships.

Required profile

• Admitted lawyer with approximately 4+ years post‑admission experience.
• Experience in one or more financial services regulatory streams such as superannuation, insurance, funds management or Australian Financial Services licensing.
• Strong technical drafting and advisory abilities, commercial approach to legal advice, and attention to detail.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence managing matters with appropriate autonomy.
