Lecturer (Teaching & Research Focused) in Design

About the role

This full-time fixed-term Lecturer position focuses on both teaching and research within the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Queensland. Based at the St Lucia campus in Brisbane, the role contributes to an interdisciplinary design programme and supports the development of innovative curriculum and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate design courses, including curriculum design and student assessment.
• Establish and grow an independent or collaborative research programme, apply for competitive funding and publish in refereed outlets.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and support researcher development.
• Participate in programme-level service, committees, industry partnerships and uphold university values.

Required profile

• Completed PhD or equivalent professional standing with significant industry experience in design.
• Demonstrated high-quality university teaching across multiple settings and experience in course coordination.
• Evidence of curriculum development and innovation in design education.
• Growing research record with publications in refereed journals and conference presentations.
• Experience or potential in securing external research funding and supervising research students.

• Annual salary range $117,120 – $138,769 plus 17 % superannuation (Academic Level B).
