Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Academics)

About the role

The School of Design and Built Environment at Curtin University is seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics for continuing Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions. The roles contribute to teaching, curriculum development, research and community engagement across design and built environment disciplines, and are open to full-time or part-time appointments. Only applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people will be considered.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and support culturally responsive teaching across DBE units, including the postgraduate unit Boola Kaardidiny Bidi (INDS5016)
• Develop curriculum, assessment and learning activities that strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content and culturally safe approaches
• Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, industry and academic colleagues to support culturally grounded teaching, research and scholarship

Required profile

• Permanent work rights in Australia; continuing position
• Relevant disciplinary expertise and cultural capability
• Experience in teaching, scholarship, research or professional practice aligned with the school's priorities
• Recognition of expertise in practice, scholarship, research, teaching or leadership

Required skills

• Co-design and participatory design with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Expertise in one or more creative practices (fashion design, graphic design, industrial design, photography, architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture, urban design) or built environment fields (environmental engineering, construction management, planning, geography)

What we offer

• Lecturer pay of $121,857-$144,352 and Senior Lecturer pay of $148,847-$171,344, plus 17% superannuation, pro rata for part-time
• Flexible work from the Bentley campus, with remote or other campus options and part-time availability
• 17% superannuation with cash-out options, cultural language allowance and salary packaging
• Leave loading of 17.5%, Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander leave (5 days), annual leave (20 days), parental leave (26 weeks), study and community service leave
