Leading Hand Fixed Plant Electrical

About the role

Evolution Mining is recruiting a Leading Hand Fixed Plant Electrical for its Mungari gold processing plant near Kalgoorlie. Working closely with the Electrical Supervisor, you will lead a large team of electricians and apprentices, coordinate maintenance and support plant reliability. You will also step into the Electrical Supervisor role when required, gaining exposure to broader leadership responsibilities. The role is residential, on an 8:6 roster of 10-hour shifts, and relocation assistance within Australia to Kalgoorlie is provided; FIFO from Perth is not available.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of electricians and apprentices.
• Coordinate daily maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
• Provide technical support across electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Build team capability through coaching, training and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with Operations and Maintenance teams to meet production and reliability targets.
• Support shutdown planning, execution and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive safety performance through compliance with site procedures, electrical safety standards, isolation requirements and risk management.
• Oversee work quality and technical compliance so equipment is returned to service safely and reliably.
• Act in the Electrical Supervisor role when required.

Required profile

• 5+ years of fixed plant electrical experience in mining or heavy industry.
• 2+ years in a Leading Hand, Acting Supervisor or similar leadership role.
• Gold processing plant experience with a strong understanding of fixed plant operations.
• Experience leading, coaching and mentoring tradespeople and apprentices.
• WA Electrical Workers Licence and current Australian driver's licence.
• Open to permanently relocating to Kalgoorlie; full unrestricted Australian working rights.

Required skills

• Current HV Switching qualification and demonstrated competency in HV switching.
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Exposure to PLC, SCADA and plant automation systems.
• Experience using Pronto or similar maintenance management systems.
• Section 26 qualification highly regarded; support is offered to obtain it.
