Lead Web Engineer – Modern Marketing Site

About the role

Deputy is seeking a Lead Web Engineer to own the technical delivery of Deputy.com, the public‑facing marketing site that introduces hundreds of thousands of visitors to the platform. In this hands‑on role you will build a modern, component‑driven website powered by a headless CMS and deployed to the edge, while applying AI‑enhanced development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain reusable components and pages using a modern SSR/SSG framework such as Nuxt or Next.js.
• Integrate and manage content through a headless CMS (e.g., Storyblok, Contentful) in collaboration with marketers and editors.
• Champion web performance by optimizing Core Web Vitals, critical CSS, pre‑rendering strategies and image delivery.
• Define the technical architecture and long‑term roadmap for the site to support global growth.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives with Marketing, Design and Engineering to solve acquisition and performance challenges.
• Leverage AI tools and agentic development practices to accelerate delivery and innovation.

Required profile

• Proven experience building high‑performance, SEO‑friendly web applications at a senior or lead level.
• Strong full‑stack web engineering fundamentals with a focus on performance, accessibility and scalability.
• Comfortable working in fast‑moving, cross‑functional teams and driving technical decisions.
• Enthusiastic about using AI tools responsibly to improve workflow.
