Lead Product Designer, Jira
Atlassian · Sydney
Job description
About the role
Atlassian is looking for a Lead Product Designer to join its Jira Design team, reporting to a Senior Design Manager. Jira is Atlassian's flagship product in the Teamwork Collection app suite, and the role leads and executes strategic work across Jira as a lead individual contributor. The position is listed as Sydney, Australia but is remote.
Key responsibilities
- Mentor the Jira design team, lead strategic initiatives, set a cohesive vision and manage interconnected projects so Jira feels designed by one hand.
- Own the entire design process, defining end-to-end product experiences and user journeys rather than isolated features.
- Work with engineers, product managers, content designers, researchers, brand and marketing experts and analysts to advocate for the user experience.
- Design end-to-end experiences that integrate AI into Jira workflows and collaboration.
- Design journeys and patterns that modernise Jira's design language and create cohesion across the platform, Rovo and 1P/3P agentic workflows.
- Partner with leadership and stakeholders to define a unified vision for modern work management at Atlassian.
- Lead design projects from concept to delivery, define success metrics and identify opportunities to improve apps and advance AI-native product evolution.
Required profile
- 7+ years of product design experience on complex or enterprise-level software.
- Recent experience designing AI-native processes, workflows and agentic tooling.
- Experience in end-to-end UX and product design, with customer research including design thinking, prototyping and conceptual modelling.
- Ability to balance customer needs with business goals, market viability and technical feasibility.
- Facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills, stakeholder management, risk mitigation and negotiation.
- Experience improving processes and methodologies to increase product value, team velocity and adoption of new capabilities.
Required skills
- High level of craft in visual design execution.
- Strong prototyping skills, able to present clear options, configurations and trade-offs.
- Ability to measure success through qualitative and quantitative methods, and to define project requirements, success measures, testing approaches and feedback mechanisms.
What we offer
- Compensation set within a pay zone based on skills, knowledge and experience; the role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions and equity.
- A wide range of perks including health and wellbeing resources and paid volunteer days.
