Lead Pharmacist – Advanced Therapies & Clinical Trials

About the role

The Royal Children’s Hospital is seeking a Lead Pharmacist to provide clinical leadership for its Advanced Therapies Program. This fixed‑term, 80% FTE role runs for three years and will oversee the safe supply, handling, storage, preparation and administration of emerging gene and cell therapies in both routine care and research clinical trials.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for pharmacy services supporting advanced therapies.
• Ensure compliance with current and emerging legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Create and maintain operational procedures for the end‑to‑end handling of advanced therapies.
• Collaborate with the clinical trials pharmacy team to enhance research output and identify funding and partnership opportunities.
• Act as subject‑matter expert, advising stakeholders on workflow design, feasibility, risk monitoring and reporting.
• Translate research findings into standard operating procedures and monitor key performance indicators.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with extensive experience in hospital pharmacy.
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced therapy products (gene therapy, cell therapy) and clinical trial pharmacy.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing advanced therapies.
• Proven leadership and strategic planning abilities.
• Ability to develop research protocols and foster collaborative projects.
