Lead Detailed Designer

About the role

ASC is seeking a Lead Detailed Designer to join the Platform Design team supporting submarine programmes. You will apply mechanical design and drafting expertise to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions for a range of submarine systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical, structural and piping system design and drafting tasks to meet program commitments.
• Ensure engineering outputs comply with ASC processes and industry standards.
• Produce quality drawing outputs consistent with established standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated engineering solutions.
• Provide regular task updates, flag blockages and align work with project priorities.
• Identify and implement improvements to drive cost, schedule and quality gains.

Required profile

• Experience as a Mechanical Designer/Drafter delivering engineering solutions.
• Trade experience or qualification is highly regarded.
• Experience preparing production‑level drawings and documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple design activities concurrently.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of configuration systems and configuration management.
• Tertiary qualification (Diploma/Advanced Diploma) in a related engineering discipline is desirable.
