Lead Cost Controller

About the role

The Lead Cost Controller is a senior professional responsible for overseeing cost‑control processes across the entire maintenance lifecycle of defence projects. Based at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson (and Garden Island), you will ensure accurate financial information flows into the business and support the broader maintenance program.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and monitor cost‑control procedures for each Engineering Maintenance Project (EMP).
• Maintain alignment of cost data across ERP systems, schedules, and project control registers.
• Produce comprehensive cost reports from project initiation through to close‑out.
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior cost‑control staff, building capability and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with Defence security requirements and governance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting, finance, business, engineering or construction management.
• Extensive experience in project cost management within a defence or large‑scale engineering environment.
• Australian citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management.
• Strong knowledge of ERP cost‑control modules.
• Project Management certification or equivalent experience.
