About the role
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is seeking a Lawyer to join its Specialist Advice and Services Division (SASD). The role offers the chance to work on high‑impact legal matters affecting consumers, businesses and the broader economy, with flexible work arrangements across Australian capital cities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal advice on the ACCC’s powers under legislation such as the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, Telecommunications Act 1997, Digital ID Act 2024 and Water Act 2007.
- Draft, review and settle compulsory information notices, undertakings, notifiable instruments and other legal documents.
- Contribute legal input to statutory decisions including merger assessments, authorisations, exemption decisions and public inquiry reports.
- Advise on law reform matters relevant to the ACCC’s remit and conduct complex legal research.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships within the ACCC to deliver responsive client service.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with experience in regulatory or competition law contexts.
- Ability to work both independently and under supervision, seeking input from senior team members as needed.
- Strong analytical and research skills to address complex legal issues.
