Labourer – Permanent Full‑Time Positions (Townsville)

About the role

The Council is hiring multiple permanent full‑time labourers to join its outdoor crews in Townsville. You will work on a variety of civil maintenance tasks such as roads, drainage, concreting and other infrastructure projects, rotating through different duties each day.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general labouring duties on construction and maintenance sites.
• Support crew members, follow instructions from the Crew Leader or Team Leader, and ensure work is completed safely.
• Log basic job information using a phone or tablet.
• Perform after‑hours or weekend work when required to meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• Mandatory Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
• Strong oral and written communication, numeracy and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to a positive safety culture and compliance with health‑safety legislation.

Required skills

• Construction Industry White Card.
• Current MR Class Licence (preferred for Maintenance Labourer).
• Certificate II in Civil Construction or equivalent experience.
• Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) accreditation or ability to obtain.
• Working knowledge of the Workplace Health & Safety Act and related standards.
