Laboratory Technician - Construction Materials

About the role

Downer Transport & Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join its team in Gosnells, WA. The role involves laboratory testing and analysis of construction materials such as asphalt and aggregates used on major infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and project specifications. Occasional travel to nearby operational sites and project locations may be required.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of asphalt, aggregates and other construction materials
• Sample, prepare and test materials in line with relevant standards and procedures
• Record, analyse and report test results accurately and efficiently
• Assist with quality assurance and compliance activities
• Take part in toolbox talks, safety initiatives and team activities
• Maintain laboratory equipment and keep the work environment safe and organised
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience preferred
• Previous experience in a construction materials, asphalt, concrete, geotechnical or related laboratory environment
• Current driver's licence
• Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
