Kitchen Hand / Dish Washer

About the role

Join the kitchen team at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, a five‑star hotel, as a Kitchen Hand/Dishwasher. You will keep the kitchen clean, safe and ready for service while supporting chefs with basic food‑prep tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize plates, cutlery, glassware and large kitchen equipment such as pots, pans and trays.
• Clean, sweep, mop and sanitize kitchen floors, walls and work surfaces to maintain hygiene standards.
• Operate commercial dishwashers safely and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety rules.
• Empty rubbish bins, sort recycling and keep the bin area tidy.
• Assist chefs with simple food preparation, for example peeling vegetables, when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant or café environment.
• Strong desire to learn, maintain high standards and work in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP; willingness to obtain a Food Handler certificate if not already held.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items and work on a rotating roster (mornings, nights, weekends, holidays).
• Punctual, reliable and team‑oriented.
