Kitchen Hand / Dish Washer

About the role

Join the kitchen team at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth as a Kitchen Hand/Dish Washer. You will play a key part in maintaining the high standards of a five‑star hotel kitchen, ensuring all equipment and work areas are clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize plates, cutlery, glassware and large kitchen equipment such as pots, pans and trays.
• Clean, sweep, mop and sanitize kitchen floors, walls and all work surfaces.
• Operate commercial dishwashers safely and use cleaning chemicals in line with kitchen safety rules.
• Empty rubbish bins, sort recycling and keep the bin area tidy.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, for example peeling vegetables, when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant or café environment.
• Strong desire to learn and uphold high hygiene standards.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP; possession of a Food Handler certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to work quickly in a busy kitchen, stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
• Punctual, reliable and available to work a rotating roster including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
