Justice Officer - Stores (Loddon Prison)

About the role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is recruiting a Justice Officer - Stores for an ongoing full-time role (VPS 2, grade V) at Loddon Prison and Middleton at Castlemaine, serving male prisoners in medium and restricted minimum-security facilities, and also providing services from Tarrengower Prison at Maldon. The role covers stock, stores and finance work, prison shop support and daily services, with a varied mix of hands-on tasks and a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage stock, orders and deliveries, including stocktakes and inventory records
• Serve prisoners in prison shops and supervise prisoner workers during daily tasks
• Process purchases, payments and invoices, manage cash and prepare finance records
• Check prisoner purchase requests and ensure all orders follow the rules
• Support warehouse, forklift and fleet tasks, keep records up to date and report safety issues

Required profile

• Understanding of stores, shops or warehouse work, including stock control
• Ability to work well in a team, solve problems and treat people with respect
• Knowledge of finance systems such as Oracle and experience with data entry
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems

Required skills

• Advanced computer skills are desirable
• Common office programs: spreadsheets, email and word processing
• Oracle finance systems and data entry
