Junior/Mid Platform Engineer

About the role

Entain ANZ is seeking a curious Junior/Mid Platform Engineer to join its Technology team in Bowen Hills. This hybrid role focuses on backend development and offers the chance to grow into a highly capable engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement efficient, scalable backend solutions using compiled languages such as Golang or Python.
• Query and manipulate data in relational and NoSQL databases, including MongoDB.
• Collaborate with the team on issue resolution, code reviews, documentation, and production of showcases.
• Diagnose and triage errors using logging and metric tools like Loki and Grafana.
• Complete smaller frontend tasks using JavaScript and React.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of commercial development experience.
• Strong curiosity, problem‑solving ability and enthusiasm for learning.
• Ability to work autonomously on small feature requests or bug fixes.

Required skills

• Experience with compiled languages (Golang preferred, Python acceptable).
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL (MongoDB).
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka or similar queuing technology.
• Understanding of REST and/or gRPC APIs.
• Mid‑level JavaScript skills, including React.
• Experience with containerised applications (Kubernetes, Docker).
