Junior Electrical Engineer – Building Services

About the role
JBA Consulting Engineers is seeking a qualified Junior Electrical Engineer to join its South Melbourne office. You will work on a variety of building services projects across commercial, residential, educational, healthcare and government sectors, collaborating closely with clients, architects and other engineering disciplines.
Key responsibilities
- Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, communications, security and fire detection.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Conduct site inspections, surveys and assessments to define project requirements.
- Perform electrical load calculations and select appropriate equipment.
- Ensure designs comply with the NCC, Australian Standards and client requirements.
- Coordinate services with architectural, mechanical, hydraulic, civil and structural teams.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and handover.
- Review project documentation and carry out quality assurance checks.
Required profile
- Australian‑qualified engineering degree from a recognised university.
- Minimum 3 years Australian experience as a Junior Engineer in building services.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical building services design.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and core electrical engineering principles.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
