Jumbo Operator – Underground Development Drilling

About the role

As a Jumbo Operator you will deliver safe, accurate and efficient underground development drilling to support production targets at the Granny Smith mine. You will operate modern twin‑boom jumbo rigs, manage your heading and work closely with supervisors, engineers and operational crews.

Key responsibilities

• Operate twin‑boom jumbo drills for underground development according to drill plans and ground support requirements.
• Provide support and guidance to charge‑up crews, bogger operators, long‑hole operators and service crews.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, geologists, supervisors and survey teams to ensure drilling aligns with design.
• Conduct thorough pre‑starts, basic maintenance and maintain high housekeeping standards in headings and work areas.

Required profile

• Proven underground mining experience operating jumbo drill rigs (Sandvik).
• Strong knowledge of charging, firing, bogging and trucking of development headings.
• Solid understanding of underground hard‑rock mining techniques, development practices and ground support systems.
• Valid manual C Class driver’s licence, WA Dangerous Goods Security Card and Working at Heights certification.

Required skills

• Ground support using Resin, MDX, split‑set bolts; experience with Geobrugg Minax mesh desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret drill plans and mine designs.
• Proactive attitude with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
