IT Systems Engineer

About the role

Queensland Parliament is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join its IT Services team and support critical ICT infrastructure and major technology projects across the Parliamentary precinct. The role rotates between Systems Operations and ICT Projects, allowing you to deepen your technical expertise while keeping Parliamentary ICT services secure and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, secure and optimise ICT infrastructure, networks, software, databases and enterprise systems so they stay operational during Parliamentary sittings and committee hearings.
• Lead the technical response to service disruptions, outages and performance issues, and provide third-level support while coordinating with vendors.
• Carry out proactive maintenance such as patching, upgrades, configuration changes and vulnerability remediation.
• Lead the design, build, implementation and deployment of new technology solutions and ICT projects, working with business stakeholders and vendors.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures and support materials.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing within the IT Services team.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience supporting and administering enterprise ICT environments.
• Experience leading or contributing to ICT projects and system implementations.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and coordinate solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and experience working with vendors and service providers.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure, networks, servers, applications and cloud or hybrid technologies.
• Collaborative approach with a commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
