IT Support Engineer

About the role

An international manufacturing group, which operates in Australia, Asia and the Northern Hemisphere, is expanding its Australian business and strengthening its IT function. The IT Support Engineer is a newly created role based in Sydney, working closely with a System Administrator and the Head of Technology while delivering IT support to a user community of about 200 people. The role covers end-user devices, infrastructure and software applications.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to all IT support requests and resolve level 1-2 issues independently
• Log tickets using Jira
• Install, configure and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices and related peripherals
• Support end-user applications such as Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, VPN and business apps
• Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues and escalate complex issues as required
• Maintain asset registers and ensure endpoint compliance with security policies (antivirus, updates, encryption)
• Take part in IT projects such as hardware roll-outs, implementations and location changes

Required profile

• A formal IT qualification or studies towards one
• 2 to 5 years of experience in the IT industry
• Holds or is studying for certifications such as ITIL Foundation or CompTIA A+
• Stable work history with Microsoft technologies, ERP and CRM systems
• Proactive communicator who takes initiative
• Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian PR holder

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft environments: Windows Servers, Active Directory, Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, SQL Server, SharePoint and Office 365
• Jira ticket logging
