Inventory Controller

About the role

A well-established Brisbane manufacturer of electrical products, backed by a global group, is looking for an Inventory Controller through its recruiter, Six Degrees. This is a desk-led role focused on inventory analysis and planning, with regular time on the floor to keep the system matching what is physically on the shelf. Receiving, picking and purchasing administration are handled by other teams, so the focus is oversight and control.

Key responsibilities

• Plan inventory requirements against production schedules and BOMs
• Ensure inbound goods arrive on time and to scope, and follow up when they do not
• Keep inventory records accurate in the ERP/MRP system, including adjustments, transfers and item master data
• Monitor stock levels and recommend replenishment actions
• Run cycle counts, coordinate the annual stocktake and investigate discrepancies
• Track slow-moving, obsolete and excess stock
• Report on inventory accuracy, stock valuation, turns and variances
• Work with the Operations Manager, Purchasing, Stores, Production and Finance, and support audits and continuous improvement
• Follow WHS requirements on site

Required profile

• 2+ years in inventory control or planning in a manufacturing environment
• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
• Clear communication and the ability to juggle priorities
• Forklift licence desirable

Required skills

• Hands-on ERP/MRP experience
• Experience with stocktakes and cycle counting
• Solid understanding of BOM structures and inventory planning
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good Microsoft 365 skills, especially Excel
