Job description
About the role
A well-established organisation is recruiting an Internal Audit Senior Manager through Robert Half, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit. The role takes ownership of audit planning and delivery across business functions outside Corporate, such as Operations and H&S, and suits an experienced internal audit professional making a second move into industry. It is based in Melbourne CBD with two days in the office, permanent placement, and a salary of $180,000-$200,000 base plus superannuation and an 8% bonus.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver risk-based internal audits across a diverse range of business functions.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Internal Audit function, including resourcing, scheduling and delivery.
- Develop, coach and support team members and oversee external audit service providers.
- Maintain audit plans and risk assessments to ensure coverage of key business areas.
- Assess control effectiveness, identify emerging risks and deliver evidence-based audit conclusions.
- Prepare clear audit reports highlighting key risks, root causes and recommended improvements.
- Monitor and validate management actions so issues are addressed in a timely way.
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders and coordinate with other assurance providers.
- Maintain high standards of audit quality and drive process improvement across the function.
Required profile
- CA/CPA qualified, with a background in Big 4 or mid-tier professional services.
- Relevant industry background such as construction, engineering, mining, infrastructure or energy.
- Senior Manager or Director-level experience; strong internal audit experience is essential, and external audit experience alone is not suitable.
- Exposure to operational audits beyond corporate functions is essential; experience in a complex, operationally focused organisation is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop people while managing competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge constructively and influence senior leaders.
