Intermediate / Senior Accountant

About the role

RSM Australia is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Accountant to join its Goulburn office. The role involves managing client relationships, delivering high‑quality compliance and advisory services, and mentoring junior staff while working closely with Partners.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts and SMSFs.
• Prepare and review income tax returns, BAS, FBT and other statutory compliance obligations.
• Manage client relationships, respond to queries promptly and liaise with the ATO and other regulators.
• Assist Partners with tax planning, structuring and advisory engagements.
• Provide technical leadership, on‑the‑job training and mentorship to junior team members.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal systems, processes and quality controls.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified (or near completion).
• Proven experience in a public practice accounting environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax and accounting standards.
• Confidence in managing client relationships and delivering practical advice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Preparation and review of financial statements.
• Preparation and review of income tax returns, BAS and FBT.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation legislation.
• Client liaison with the ATO and other regulatory bodies.
