Intermediate or Senior Accountant

About the role

PRJ Accounting is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Accountant to join its team in Merewether, NSW. The successful candidate will work with a diverse client portfolio, delivering accounting, tax and advisory services. This role offers the chance to deepen technical expertise while building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and IAS for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
• Prepare depreciation schedules, capital gains tax calculations and fringe benefits tax returns.
• Liaise directly with clients to answer accounting, taxation and business queries.
• Manage information flow between clients and the firm to meet deadlines.
• Assist clients with tax planning, cash‑flow forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting.
• Communicate with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on client matters.
• Oversee personal workflow and contribute to team lodgement and productivity targets.
• Review work of junior accountants and provide constructive feedback.
• Support training and development of junior team members.

Required profile

• 3+ years in a public practice accounting role (intermediate level) or 5+ years (senior level).
• Proven experience preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS and IAS.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Experience reviewing and mentoring junior staff (preferred for senior applicants).
