Intermediate Baker / Production Operator

About the role

Goodman Fielder is recruiting Intermediate Bakers, Qualified Bakers and Production Operators for its Quality Bakers Auckland site. The role reports to the Team Leader and contributes to a high-performing production team, preparing ingredients, baking and packaging bread and small-goods products to the required standards. Shifts are available: day, night and afternoon.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, bake and package bread and small-goods products to the required standards
• Understand the ingredients used in baking and adjust batches to ensure quality and consistency
• Master the whole production line
• Take part in developing and mentoring others who are completing baking qualifications
• Share knowledge and collaborate to support team performance
• Follow food safety procedures and company policies
• Keep machines running efficiently and meet deadlines in a busy environment

Required profile

• Experience in plant baking using automated equipment is desirable
• Manufacturing or machine operation experience
• Strong numerical and literacy skills
• Health and safety certificates preferred; food safety and quality certificates preferred
• Strong knowledge of work health and safety with demonstrated experience in previous workplaces
• Passion for bread and baking, willingness to keep learning, teamwork and a positive professional attitude

What we offer

• Pay starting at $32 per hour for Qualified Bakers, plus additional night shift allowance
• Day shift: Wednesday 11am-6.15pm and Thu-Fri-Sat 6am-6.15pm
• Night shift: Shift one Wed-Sat 6.15pm-6am, Shift two Mon-Fri 6pm-2am
• Afternoon shift: Mon-Fri 12pm-8.30pm
