Intermediate Accountant

About the role

Spark Accountants, a Brisbane-based firm specialising in tax compliance and advisory for small business owners and individuals, is looking for an intermediate accountant. The firm has been operating for three years on the south side of Brisbane, led by a director with Big 4 experience, and serves clients in the medical, trades, construction and professional industries.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare company, individual, partnership, trust and SMSF tax returns
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual BAS/IAS returns
• Prepare financial statements
• Liaise with the ATO as required by clients and provide taxation advice in client communications
• Assist with cashflow forecasts, letters, business plans, correspondence, reports and other documents
• Have direct contact with clients on business and tax matters

Required profile

• Two to four years of experience in Australian public practice
• Degree in Business or Commerce with a major in Accounting
• Currently working towards a CA or CPA, or willing to start as soon as possible
• Excellent attention to detail, self-initiative and motivation
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with customers and clients

Required skills

• Proficiency in IT and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office
• Knowledge and experience with MYOB and XERO preferred
