Industrial Relief Instructor (Prison Workshops)

About the role

The Industrial Relief Instructor provides relief assistance in a range of industrial workshops at Bunbury Regional Prison, covering metals, cabinet making and construction activities. The role ensures continuity of operations when a regular officer is absent, delivering on‑the‑job instruction, accredited training and supervision to prisoners working in these areas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, organise and control daily activities in various industrial workshops.
• Provide relief coverage for absent officers to maintain workshop routine.
• Deliver on‑the‑job instruction and accredited training to prisoner trainees.
• Supervise prisoners and other staff within the workshop environment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, first‑aid and construction induction requirements.
• Maintain equipment, tools and workshop cleanliness.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence.
• Current First Aid accreditation.
• Current Construction Induction (White Card) accreditation.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• One of the listed qualifications, such as Certificate III in Cabinet Making, Furniture Making, a Construction Trade, Building Maintenance, Horticulture, Mechanical Engineering, Painting & Decorating, or Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
