About the role
Join a leading South African industrial business as an In-house Counsel, working closely with a respected legal team on varied commercial matters. This role offers mentorship from a friendly General Counsel and the chance to move away from timesheets into strategic legal work.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and legal documents.
- Manage disputes and negotiate pre‑litigation matters.
- Provide commercial, contractual and regulatory advice to internal stakeholders.
- Support legal projects and strategic initiatives across the business.
- Advise on contractual obligations, risk management and legal implications of business decisions.
Required profile
- 3–7 years post‑qualification experience in a commercial legal environment.
- Commercially minded with the ability to work across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Required skills
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Dispute resolution and pre‑litigation negotiation.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to industrial businesses.
