ICT Engineer

About the role

BAE Systems Australia is looking for an ICT Engineer for its Edinburgh Parks site. The role combines ICT engineering, system administration and technical support to keep business-critical systems reliable and performing well. Working closely with the ICT Team Lead, the successful candidate helps implement ICT solutions, maintains operational environments, provides technical support and delivers continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain ICT engineering solutions that meet operational and business needs.
• Deliver ICT projects and technical tasks within agreed schedules and budgets.
• Provide Level 3 Help Desk support under SLA terms: investigating and resolving incidents, handling service requests and escalating issues.
• Monitor, test and deploy security patches, and deploy software builds across development, testing and production environments.
• Maintain ICT infrastructure and support environments, and upgrade and maintain COTS software products.
• Keep ICT design documentation, procedures and knowledge articles up to date.
• Liaise with technology vendors and service providers, and work with customers and end users.
• Contribute to continuous process and service improvement, and occasionally take part in after-hours work including weekends and early mornings.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance, or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
• Degree in ICT or Engineering.
• 3-4 years of demonstrated ICT engineering experience, including implementing ICT infrastructure and system solutions.
• Proven ability to deliver technical projects on time and within budget.
• Level 3 support experience in a service management environment, and experience with software deployment, system maintenance and release management.
• Knowledge of security patch management and system hardening, and experience supporting and upgrading COTS applications.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and customer service skills, and ability to work independently and in a team.
