Human Resources Officer – Generalist Role

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join SGS Australia as a Human Resources Officer, working as a true generalist where no two days are the same. Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you will support end‑to‑end HR services and act as a trusted point of contact for employees and leaders in Melbourne or Brisbane.

Key responsibilities

• Support HR Business Partners and Advisors with day‑to‑day HR activities.
• Prepare employment contracts, letters and other HR documentation.
• Assist with visa and immigration processes when required.
• Help manage employee relations matters, including investigations and grievance handling.
• Maintain HR systems, employee records and ensure data accuracy and compliance.
• Support performance review processes and coordinate training.
• Assist with HR reporting and analytics to aid decision‑making.
• Contribute to HR projects, policy updates and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
• 2–3 years experience in an HR or administrative role.
• Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• High level of discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to build strong relationships and manage competing priorities.
