Hotel Accountant

About the role

Pullman East Melbourne, part of Accor, is looking for a Hotel Accountant. The role is primarily focused on payroll, with about 80% of the time dedicated to end-to-end payroll operations, payroll reporting and analysis, and the remaining 20% supporting the wider Finance team and covering leave across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Purchasing.

Key responsibilities

• Payroll: coordinate and process weekly payroll accurately and on time, working with department managers on timesheets and payroll documentation
• Process payroll in line with relevant awards and employment agreements, review payroll reports with the Director of Finance and process payments
• Prepare payroll tax, superannuation and other required payroll reports, and support payroll enquiries
• Accounts payable: process supplier invoices and payments accurately and on time, manage expense claims, petty cash, prepayments and capital expenditure
• Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations and supporting documentation, and assist with month-end reporting, general ledger reconciliations and BAS requirements
• Prepare financial reports and monthly statistics, support payroll journals, superannuation notifications and general cashiering
• Work with department leaders to improve financial performance and profitability, and support daily Finance operations and reporting

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Business and/or Accounting
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Hotel Accountant or equivalent
• Previous general accounting and payroll processing experience
• Ability to understand complex stakeholder environments, strong attention to detail, and good communication and negotiation skills
