Hospital Director – Emergency Veterinary Care

About the role

Animal Emergency Australia is seeking a Hospital Director to lead its Hobart emergency and critical care facility. The role combines strategic oversight, operational management and financial stewardship to ensure world‑class veterinary care while fostering a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the hospital’s strategic plan to achieve sustainable growth.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring clinical excellence and patient safety.
• Build, mentor and retain a multidisciplinary team of veterinary professionals and support staff.
• Maintain a positive, psychologically safe culture aligned with the organisation’s values of Kindness, Ownership, Teamwork, Transparency and Growth.
• Drive financial performance, including full P&L accountability, budgeting and cost control.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders to optimise diagnostic capabilities and service delivery.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in a veterinary hospital or comparable healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and inspire high performance.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering financial results.
