Domestic Assistant - Home Care

About the role

CareWays is seeking Domestic Assistants in the Illawarra to provide in-home support to elderly clients, helping them stay in their own homes. The role reports to the Care Worker Supervisor and covers both casual and permanent positions. It is part time.

Key responsibilities

• Provide domestic assistance such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, washing dishes, bed making, washing and ironing clothes, and shopping and transport to appointments
• Assist the consumer with household and environmental tasks set out in their person-centred plan, covering bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, living areas and bedrooms
• Maintain accurate records and report changes in the consumer's needs
• Support social interaction with the family and community
• Follow Work Health and Safety policies, attend team meetings and training, and follow organisational protocols

Required profile

• No experience needed; previous domestic assistance or cleaning experience is highly regarded
• Current driver's licence, reliable car with full comprehensive insurance, and a smart phone
• First Aid Certificate (listed as essential)
• Ability to work without direct supervision, handle physically demanding and repetitive tasks, and keep confidential information
• Full working rights in Australia

Required skills

• Basic computer and email skills
• Basic administrative skills for timesheets, travel records and record keeping
• Ability to prioritise and organise work

• Pay under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Home Care Employee Grade 1/2 ($31.13-$32.86 per hour plus casual loading)
