Home Care Worker

About the role

Silverchain is hiring experienced care workers to provide home help and personal care to its aged care clients across several Queensland areas, including Ashgrove, Kelvin Grove, Cleveland, Capalaba, Algester, Crestmead, Ipswich and Redbank Plains. The work is offered Monday to Friday with guaranteed hours and shifts, no weekends or on-call duty.

Key responsibilities

• General housekeeping: making beds, cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors, washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Personal care: helping clients get out of bed, shower and dress
• Assisting clients with taking their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for clients with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Transporting clients to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping family carers take a break

Required profile

• At least 3 months of experience in a similar professional role, including personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medication assistance
• Valid Australian driver's licence and your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families and to stay calm when clients have a bad day
• Comfortable working independently and solving everyday problems, knowing when to ask a manager for help

• Award rate of $34.42 to $43.03 per hour plus superannuation and paid kilometres
• Guaranteed hours and shifts, Monday to Friday, no weekends or on-call
