Home Care Worker - Coffs Harbour

About the role

Silverchain is looking for a Care Worker to help older community members maintain their independence and wellbeing in Coffs Harbour and surrounding suburbs such as Boambee, Emerald Beach, Sandy Beach and Sawtell. The role provides home help and personal care to aged care clients, with guaranteed hours and shifts Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm.

Key responsibilities

• General housekeeping: making beds, cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors, washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Personal care: getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed
• Assisting clients with medications, mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for clients with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support and transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping family carers take a break

Required profile

• At least 3 months of experience in a similar professional role, including personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications
• Valid Australian driver's licence and your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families and to stay calm when clients have a bad day
• Comfortable working independently and solving everyday problems, knowing when to ask a manager for help

• Award rate of $34.42 per hour plus superannuation and paid kilometres
