Hire Assistant - Equipment Hire

About the role

Chandler Macleod is seeking a reliable, hands-on Hire Assistant for a busy equipment hire business in Fairfield, Victoria. The role is varied and suits someone who enjoys customer interaction, works in a fast-paced environment and handles both administrative and practical tasks. You will split your time between the hire office, the yard and deliveries, reporting to the Branch Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage customer enquiries, hire bookings and equipment returns
• Prepare hire contracts and invoices and process payments
• Coordinate and complete equipment deliveries and collections
• Drive company utes and trucks as required
• Prepare and inspect equipment before and after hire, and give customers guidance on safe use
• Maintain customer relationships and liaise with the workshop on damaged or faulty equipment
• Support yard operations, keep the branch, vehicles and equipment ready for daily work and maintain a clean, safe environment

Required profile

• Previous experience in equipment hire, trade services, construction, customer service or a similar environment
• Current driver's licence and confidence driving utes and trucks, subject to appropriate licensing
• Hands-on attitude, good organisation and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take initiative

Highly regarded qualifications include a forklift licence, First Aid certificate and Test and Tag certification; the employer will sponsor candidates who need them.

What we offer

• Salary of $78,000 plus superannuation

• Working hours Monday to Friday 6:45am–5:15pm and Saturday 7:15am–1:15pm, with possible extra hours
