High Assurance Cryptographic Equipment Technician

About the role

The High Assurance Cryptographic Equipment (HACE) Technician provides specialist engineering and technical expertise for cryptographic systems supporting the Australian Defence Force and broader Australian Government. You will ensure HACE capabilities remain secure, compliant, and operationally effective within a regulated engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical certification and engineering change activities for HACE devices.
• Perform testing and evaluation, developing test plans and reports.
• Provide specialist advice on in‑service HACE capabilities and support acquisition projects.
• Implement and maintain the regulated engineering framework governing HACE management.
• Assist with inspections, audits, and investigations related to COMSEC incidents.
• Deliver ongoing engineering support throughout the equipment lifecycle and provide technical training.

Required profile

• Significant experience supporting HACE within the Australian Government or Defence environment.
• Demonstrated experience with the TACLANE family of HAIPE devices.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, technical certification, and change processes.
• Experience supporting COMSEC operations and cryptographic capability management.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, Systems or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship.
