Heavy Combination Driver

About the role

Strait Link, a sea freight operator linking Port Melbourne and Port Burnie, is looking for an experienced Heavy Combination Driver for its busy Hobart depot. The position covers all aspects of Road Transport Rules and Regulations in a competent, safe and law-abiding way, within an efficient, service-oriented environment. Local cartage jobs delegated by the supervisor may also be required.

Key responsibilities

• Drive heavy combination vehicles in accordance with Road Transport Rules and Regulations
• Complete local cartage jobs as delegated by the supervisor
• Work the majority of days, including some weekends

Required profile

• Minimum Year 10 secondary education (Year 12 preferred)
• Class HC/MC vehicle licence (MC preferred)
• MSIC preferred but not essential
• Proven delivery and freight experience
• Entitlement to work in the specified country and willingness to undergo pre-employment checks, including a criminal history check and medical assessment

Required skills

• Full knowledge of federal and state road regulations, including load restraint and fatigue management
• Numeracy and literacy skills
• Strong customer service focus and good written and verbal communication
• Ability to work safely, without direct supervision, and physically fit for manual handling
