Forklift Operator / Truck Driver

About the role

Strait Link, which provides daily sea freight between Port Melbourne and Port Burnie, is hiring a Forklift Operator / Truck Driver based at its Hobart site. This hands-on role is responsible for the safe movement and coordination of freight across the depot in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, teamwork and a strong safety mindset are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Safely load and unload vehicles and trailers
• Scan, sort and reconfigure freight as required
• Re-palletise and prepare freight for shipping and linehaul movements
• Ensure accurate and timely freight distribution
• Work to operational deadlines and follow site procedures
• Identify and report damaged freight in line with process
• Apply safe load restraint practices, including correct use of straps and equipment
• Maintain strict adherence to safety and compliance standards

Required profile

• Current and valid Forklift Licence (mandatory)
• Current HR Licence (mandatory)
• Current HC Licence (preferred)
• Experience in a freight, logistics or transport setting (highly regarded)
• Proactive approach to workplace safety
• Ability to follow instructions and established processes
• Confidence working independently and within a team
