Health Care Worker (Grade 1) - Domestic Assistance

About the role

Portland District Health is looking for a Health Care Worker Grade 1 to join its Community Aged Care Services team in Portland. This is a fixed-term part-time position of 12 to 76 hours per fortnight, available now until 30 June 2027, with a closing date of 30 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general household duties such as cleaning, laundry, ironing and meal preparation.
• Shop for consumers without a consumer present.
• Ensure compliance with safety guidelines for cleaning products and report any unsafe conditions, equipment or appliances in consumers' homes.
• Carry out tasks in a friendly, cooperative way, showing a caring attitude towards consumers.
• Encourage consumers to maintain and enhance their abilities and strengths.
• Do not carry out personal tasks requiring the skills of a qualified nurse or allied health professional, nor tasks outside your own skills and competence.

Required profile

• Current Victorian driver's licence.
• Certificate III in Aged Care from an Australian registered training organisation or recognised equivalent, or willingness to undertake training.
• Previous experience in a hospital, community care or residential aged care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary health care team.
• Understanding of the needs and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

• Knowledge, skills and experience supporting consumers in the community.
