Head of Human Resources (People & Culture)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Human Resources to lead and expand our People & Culture function across a multi‑site hospitality and leisure business. Reporting to the CFO and sitting on the senior leadership team, you will build the HR capability from the ground up, shaping culture, performance management and employee relations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of three HR professionals and drive the development of HR policies, processes and hygiene.
• Oversee the rollout of a new HR platform to support performance conversations and workflow automation.
• Elevate culture and communication, linking leadership objectives with frontline execution.
• Develop leadership capability for venue managers to manage performance, conduct and attendance.
• Provide expert employee‑relations support while collaborating with the Risk & Compliance function.
• Manage recruitment, workforce planning and HRIS projects in a high‑volume, multi‑site environment.

Required profile

• Extensive senior HR experience in hospitality, clubs, retail or similar high‑turnover, multi‑site operations.
• Commercially minded with a hands‑on approach and ability to handle difficult conversations.
• Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES, enterprise agreements and related obligations.
• Proven track record of leading an HR uplift rather than maintaining business‑as‑usual.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of enterprise agreements and employment law.
• Experience delivering HRIS or workflow‑automation projects.
• Ability to influence operational leaders and develop a small HR team.
