Head of Finance

About the role

Scale Suite is building an embedded finance function for fast‑growing Australian businesses. As Head of Finance you will own the complete finance lifecycle for a portfolio of client companies, turning chaotic setups into streamlined, AI‑enabled processes.

Key responsibilities

• Run the full finance function for each client – close the books, manage obligations, oversee payroll and cash flow.
• Rebuild broken financial systems: migrate data, reconcile thousands of ledger lines and catch up missed lodgements.
• Act as the founder’s finance counterpart, providing same‑day recommendations on commercial decisions.
• Develop and document playbooks, automation scripts and standards to ensure repeatable, high‑quality finance delivery.

Required profile

• 3+ years of end‑to‑end finance ownership in an Australian company, often as the sole finance professional.
• Qualified CA or CPA with hands‑on experience lodging BAS and managing payroll.
• Comfortable working in messy environments and turning them into clean, automated processes.
• Founder‑fluent: able to translate numbers into actionable advice and stand by recommendations.

Required skills

• Financial modelling
• Payroll oversight
• BAS lodging
• Ledger reconciliation

What we offer

• Above‑market salary with a commitment to improve the package for the right candidate.
• Remote‑first work mode with occasional on‑site days at Sydney client offices.
• Direct relationship with the Scale Suite founder and the founders of each client company.
• Opportunity to shape the firm’s finance methodology and growth trajectory.
