Head, Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit

About the role

The University of Queensland's Rural Clinical School is seeking a Head for its Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit, based at Bundaberg Hospital. This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed-term position until December 2028, with a base salary of $145,961 to $193,070 plus 17% superannuation (academic level C to D). The role leads the delivery of the end-to-end Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in Bundaberg and provides academic and operational leadership within the Wide Bay Learning Community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership for the MD program, contribute to curriculum delivery and assessment, and support students with academic guidance, career advice and pastoral care
• Maintain academic standing through scholarship and research, and support collaborative research initiatives
• Mentor students and emerging clinicians, encourage responsible research conduct and support professional growth
• Build partnerships with healthcare providers, general practice and community stakeholders, contribute to the governance of the Rural Clinical School and promote regional medical careers

Required profile

• Medical qualification with Specialist Registration (GP or non-GP Specialist) and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia with AHPRA
• Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching and academic leadership
• Experience in, or a commitment to, scholarship and research
• Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to rural and regional health
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the appointment; employer-sponsored work rights are not available
