Greek-Speaking Social Visitor Volunteer

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a warm and friendly social volunteer who speaks Greek. The volunteer enjoys relaxing afternoon visits with a lady who enjoys watching the Greek channel on TV and browsing shopping channels such as TVSN, and would appreciate sharing these moments with someone who understands her language and culture.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the person in the afternoon, bringing companionship, conversation and a touch of Greek warmth to their week.
• Chat in Greek, watch a favourite show together, or simply keep them company and brighten their afternoon.
• Visit once a week or every two weeks, depending on availability.

Required profile

• Speak Greek.
• 18 years or older.
• A national volunteer police check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.

Visits are scheduled at a suitable time during the week, between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday. To apply, contact the volunteer recruitment coordinator; they will get in touch by phone or text, or by email if they cannot reach you, and will also ask you to check your spam or junk folder.
