Grants & Procurement Officer

About the role

West Coast Council is recruiting a Grants & Procurement Officer (Band 5, Department Finance) to coordinate the council's procurement and grant work. The officer identifies funding opportunities, coordinates grant applications and manages reporting, while providing procurement support that ensures compliance, transparency and value for money. The role reports to the Manager Finance and is advertised through the recruiter Searson Buck.

Key responsibilities

• Procure goods in line with the Council's Procurement and Code of Tenders and Contracts Policy
• Implement financial controls and use the Council's ordering system before processing invoices
• Carry out revenue control activities including contract management
• Research and develop financial policies and procedures
• Produce end-of-month and other data reports
• Coordinate grant applications, including acquittals and milestone reports
• Identify funding opportunities aligned with Council's strategic projects
• Support administrative, financial and auditing services as required

Required profile

• Financial experience in local government or the private sector
• Ability to self-manage, set priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience interpreting Acts and legislation
• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical and audiometric assessment

Required skills

• Well-developed computer software knowledge and user skills
• Understanding of the technology and procedures of the operating unit
• Ability to drive continuous operational improvement and cost efficiency
