Graduate Environmental Scientist / Planner

About the role

AECOM is seeking a passionate Graduate Environmental Scientist/Planner to join its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team in Newcastle. You will work on transformational projects across renewable energy, water, transport and industrial sectors, applying your environmental science or planning knowledge to real‑world challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation of environmental assessments, permit applications and compliance documentation for projects under Commonwealth, State and local frameworks.
• Engage with communities, stakeholders and clients to support ESG initiatives and embed sustainability outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, drafters and contractors in a fast‑paced consulting environment.

Required profile

• Final year or recent graduate with a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Planning or Engineering.
• Strong communication, teamwork and proactive mindset, with a commitment to professionalism and integrity.
• Full working rights in Australia (student or graduate visas accepted) and ability to commence by February 2027 (or July 2027 for mid‑year finishers).

Required skills

• Understanding of environmental assessment processes and approval pathways.
• Ability to analyse data and produce clear, concise reports for regulatory compliance.
